When Darianne first joined the Tiny Home Construction Finishing Fundamentals Program (THCFF), she was looking for more than just a job. She wanted stability, routine, and a sense of purpose in her day-to-day life. The opportunity to learn new skills while working alongside others in a hands-on environment made this program a natural fit!

Although this was her first experience working on a construction site, Darianne was no stranger to building and creating. From helping her family build decks when she was younger to taking on home improvement projects in her own apartment, she has always enjoyed working with her hands and seeing a project come together.

"I like building things and watching something go from nothing to something. Years from now, you can look at it and say, 'I helped build that.'"

Throughout the program, Darianne strengthened her communication skills and learned the importance of staying calm, professional, and adaptable while working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and with different personalities. She credits the experience with helping her grow both personally and professionally while giving her a greater appreciation for the value of teamwork and respect on a job site and in a professional setting.

Darianne also hopes that her experience encourages more women to consider careers in the skilled trades. She believes the industry offers opportunities for anyone willing to work hard and learn, regardless of age, size, or gender.

Looking ahead, Darianne plans to pursue a career in policing and feels the skills she developed throughout the program will help her achieve that goal. The confidence, communication, and life experience she gained have prepared her for whatever comes next.
