MHCF & THCFF Graduation Ceremony – Lawrencetown

On May 29, the Housing Construction Council proudly celebrated the graduates of the Modular Housing Construction Fundamentals (MHCF) and Tiny Home Construction Finishing Fundamentals (THCFF) programs in Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia.

The graduation ceremony brought together graduates, families, friends, community members, industry partners, and supporters to recognize the hard work and achievements of participants throughout their training journey. The event was an opportunity to celebrate not only the completion of both programs, but also the skills, microcredentials, and hands-on experience learners gained while preparing for careers in Nova Scotia's housing construction sector.

The Modular Housing Construction Fundamentals program is an 18-week training experience that combines classroom instruction with paid, hands-on work experience. Participants develop practical skills across the structural and finishing phases of housing construction while building complete, two-bedroom, net-zero-ready tiny homes. The Tiny Home Construction Finishing Fundamentals program builds on foundational skills through focused training in detailed interior and exterior finishing work. Together, these programs provide participants with industry-recognized microcredentials and pre-apprenticeship hours that support pathways into the skilled trades.

The impact of this graduating cohort extends well beyond the classroom. The homes built through these programs are now being transported to the community of West Dalhousie through a partnership with the Valley Rotary Clubs, where they will help support local housing needs and serve as a lasting example of the graduates' hard work and dedication.

We extend our sincere congratulations to all graduates and thank the families, friends, industry leaders, community partners, instructors, and supporters who joined us to celebrate this important milestone. We would also like to thank the Lawrencetown Education Centre (LEC) for hosting our training programs, open houses, and graduations. Their support and hospitality helped make our programs a success. Your encouragement and commitment help strengthen Nova Scotia's housing construction workforce and create meaningful opportunities for future generations of skilled trades professionals.
