We’re proud to celebrate the graduation of our Tiny Home Construction Fundamentals (THCF) program in Sydney! This cohort marks the first completed delivery of THCF in Cape Breton, a major milestone for the Housing Construction Council and the local community.

On January 30th, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, we’ll gather at 90 Military Road, Sydney, NS to celebrate this important milestone with graduates, community members, and industry partners.

Building Skills, Confidence, and Community

The Tiny Home Construction Fundamentals (THCF) program is one of our hands-on, microcredential training initiatives designed to prepare participants for rewarding careers in the construction sector. Through this program, participants gain practical, on-the-job experience while working toward accredited microcredentials recognized by Cape Breton University and earning pre-apprenticeship hours through the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency (NSAA).

Over the past several weeks, our FIRST THCF cohort in Sydney has worked diligently to develop essential skills from framing, roofing, and window installation.

Our Housing Construction Training Programs represent far more than a building. They stand as a testament to the power of workforce development, collaboration, and hands-on learning. Each completed Tiny Home build makes a meaningful impact in our community by strengthening the workforce, supporting local businesses, and contributing to the local economy.

Each Finished build produces 16 newly skilled individuals who are trained, certified, and ready to enter the construction industry. By working closely with local businesses, employers, and training sites, we ensure participants gain hands-on experience that directly aligns with real job opportunities.

Through collaboration with local suppliers, employers, and training partners, each project helps strengthen the entire housing ecosystem, from education to employment, from raw materials to finished homes.

In partnership with community organizations, our completed tiny homes are placed in low-income communities, providing accessible housing solutions in Nova Scotia.
