Help Us Connect Youth to Skilled Trades Camps This Summer!

The Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, in partnership with the Housing Construction Council, is launching FREE Skilled Trades Camps for youth ages 11–15 and is seeking community partners to help spread the word and connect interested participants to available camp seats.

These one-week camps provide youth with hands-on exposure to a variety of skilled trades while learning valuable workplace safety skills and exploring future career pathways.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience activities related to:

  • Construction
  • Culinary
  • Automotive

The Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency’s Skilled Trades Camp, provides experiential experiences for youth across Nova Scotia to explore skilled trades. Funded by the Government of Nova Scotia and delivered in partnership with the Housing Construction Council and Automotive Sector Council, Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS), these camps give youth the opportunity to learn about careers that shape our communities.

Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency’s Skilled Trades Camp are part of a provincial initiative funded by the Government of Nova Scotia. With a $1.25-million investment over two years as part of a $100-million plan announced in October 2023, these camps aim to recruit more people in skilled trades.in partnership with the Housing Construction Council and Automotive Sector Council, Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia (TIANS), these camps provide experimental learning, mentorship, and insights into rewarding skilled trades careers, supporting the growth and modernization of Nova Scotia’s apprenticeship system.

 

How Organizations Can Help

We are looking for youth-serving organizations, schools, community groups, and recreation programs to:

  • Share camp information with youth and families
  • Help connect interested participants to available seats
  • Support local outreach efforts within their communities

Trade Up Skilled Trades Camp Locations & Details:

  • Horton High School, Greenwich: July 6–10, 2026
  • Riverview High School, Sydney: July 6–10, 2026
  • Middleton Regional High School: July 13–17, 2026
  • Cabot High School, North Harbour: July 13–17, 2026
  • Strait Area Education & Recreation Centre: July 20–24, 2026
  • Dr. J.H. Gillis Regional High School, Antigonish: July 27–31, 2026

Our goal is to create accessible opportunities for youth to explore rewarding careers in the skilled trades while building awareness of apprenticeship pathways and workplace safety.
