Help Us Connect Youth to Skilled Trades Opportunities This Summer!

The Housing Construction Council is launching FREE Trade Up Youth Skilled Trades Camps for youth ages 11–15 and is seeking community partners to help spread the word and connect interested participants to available camp seats.

These one-week camps provide youth with hands-on exposure to a variety of skilled trades while learning valuable workplace safety skills and exploring future career pathways.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience activities related to:

Construction
Culinary
Automotive

How Organizations Can Help

We are looking for youth-serving organizations, schools, community groups, and recreation programs to:

Share camp information with youth and families
Help connect interested participants to available seats
Support local outreach efforts within their communities

Trade Up Skilled Trades Camp Locations & Details:

Location: Horton High School, Greenwich, Nova Scotia

Start Date: July 6–10, 2026

Cost: Free for participants ages 11-15 (Grade 7-9)

Location: Strait Area Education Centre, Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia

Start Date: July 20–24, 2026

Cost: Free for participants ages 11-15 (Grade 7-9)

Location: Middleton High School, Middleton, Nova Scotia

Start Date: July 13–17, 2026

Cost: Free for participants ages 11-15 (Grade 7-9)

Location: Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional High School, Antigonish, Nova Scotia

Start Date: July 27– 31, 2026

Cost: Free for participants ages 11-15 (Grade 7-9)

Our goal is to create accessible opportunities for youth to explore rewarding careers in the skilled trades while building awareness of apprenticeship pathways and workplace safety.
