The Housing Construction Council is committed to equipping individuals with the essential skills and certifications needed to succeed in the construction industry. Our direct-entry Training Programs provide hands-on experience, safety certifications, and career readiness to ensure workers meet industry standards and employer expectations.
The Tiny Home Construction Finishing program integrates the interior finishing phases of home construction into a single, comprehensive training experience. Over 10 weeks, participants move through classroom learning and paid hands-on work experience while building one-bedroom, net-zero-ready modular homes.
The finishing program builds on foundational skills and focuses on the detailed finishing work of a tiny home. Participants learn proper use of tools and materials while working on stairs, scaffolding, and detailed interior and exterior components. Training includes installing interior doors and trim, exterior trim and finish, wall and ceiling panelling, and cabinetry. The program emphasizes precision and quality workmanship to prepare participants for industry expectations.
Graduates leave with full-time work experience, accredited Microcredential Badges awarded by Cape Breton Univerity, pre-apprenticeship hours recoconized by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, high school cooperative education credits from Regional Center for Education, saftey certifications, tools & supplies, and job coaching preparing you for the trades sector.
